Process Piece – Final Week

IMG_20190228_140831_282

For the final week of our process piece with Jacob Michaud, we asked him his plans for the future and his artist recommendations.

Plans for the future

For the future, I plan on just making more shit;  more collages and drawings as they come to my mind. I really also want to start doing more collabs with other artists. A lot of people in the music scene also make art, like me, and I think it’s really rad. I guess for me personally, I want to keep trying new things. New ways to go about making my art, new techniques, etc. I think as an artist you should never become stagnant.

Artist Recommendations

The first guy that really got me into the whole idea of collages was Winston Smith, who did all the artwork for the Dead Kennedy’s. But then I started seeing more artwork on other band’s album covers such as Full of Hell’s rudiments of mutilation. So definitely check out those, as well as most album covers for grindcore/powerviolence. For specific people I currently follow, Stanislav Krawczyk (@standarkart) does some insane drawings using mostly markers. It’s very original and unique and I fucking love it. Another artist that is one of my favorites around is Ethan Lee McCarthy of Primitive man (@thecoolghoul.) He does alot of collage esk type work as well, but I think he does alot of illustration collages? I’m not quite sure to be honest, but it rips. The last artist I can think of that I follow pretty closely is my buddy Greg Martinis (@gorg_in_the_morgue) he is also in a band called atomic witch, we played with them on our tour with mutilatred. His drawings are absolutely insane, he makes really good slimy spooky skulls and the works. I don’t know, but his art is really cool.
