Don’t be discouraged about submitting your work! If you are writing, you should be submitting to various places.
- Before you submit, remember to read the guidelines carefully and intensely edit your work. Grammar Matters!
- Prepare your manuscript: Use a word processing software such as Microsoft Word, One Note, or Scrivener (https://www.literatureandlatte.com/scrivener.php) Make sure the formatting is right. Writer’s Market (http://www.writersmarket.com/) has more information.
- Finding a Venue: Online Resources include Writer’s Market (can also submit in print) and Duotrope (https://duotrope.com/ ). Submittable (https://www.submittable.com/) is a great online submission software. Don’t forget about where you read from, you can submit to anywhere that accepts submissions.
- Cover Letter Tips: Find the current editor. Keep the cover letter short, but make sure to include the word count. A short bio is okay, include previous publications, about 25 words. Most importantly, thank the editors.
